Tobacco Industry Essays - Summer, Tobacco, Habits, Smoking
Tobacco Industry Since my presentation was on Microsoft, I am going to try to analyze the Tobacco industry presentation. The Tobacco industry is an industry where they make tobacco products, then distribute it to stores, which then sell them to the consumer. Some tobacco manufactures are Camel, Marlboro (lights or reds? you choose), and Newport. Many people like to smoke cigarettes so they usually are the ones that purchase the tobacco. Because many people smoke tobacco, the Tobacco industry makes millions of profit off people who smoke. Tobacco has proven to cause cancer and other diseases. Tobacco is addicting, so many consumers have trouble quitting. Tobacco therefore, causes death. One way of marketing this deadly product is Advertising. Although advertising is very expensive, that expense will eventually be covered by future profits and more. Advertising targets all ages. Who ever can get their hands on cigarettes will be the consumer for a very long time. But isn't there an 18-age limit on people who can buy cigarettes? Yes, but then why are there so many teens hooked on cigarettes. Obviously there is no control over that too. Even thought the box is labeled and causes lung cancer and death, and is also addicting, people want to suet these tabacco companies. People want the government to regulate the sale of these cigarettes because too many minors are buying these cigarettes. This means that these minors will become hooked at an early age and then die sooner from the cigarettes. People also accuse some Tobacco companies of advertising to teenagers for example Joe Camel targets young adolescents. The Joe Camel dresses in baggie cool clothing, and hangs out with the crowd playing pool and smoking cigarettes called Camel. Another way the Tobacco tries to make their profit is by advertising in stores near schools and colleges where young people will stroll in during break time. Come on, business is business. You got make the profit. The Tobacco industry knows and everyone knows this product kills, its right on the package: This product is hazardous to your health? in other words, this product will turn your lungs black, cause birth defects, and will murder you, be careful. Well the company warns and the consumer chooses. The tobacco industry advertises to gain sales. It is the thing to do when you have a business. You want a toque, just go and buy. . But this product is only made to smoke or chew, not to clean the floor. Yeah we have the right to choose to smoke or not smoke but do children have the knowledge to choose between health and being cool with your friends? Maybe after their hooked and their lungs are black. The Industry is not helping when they advertise to teenagers. Labeling and warning about the dangers of the product is a must. And as adults, we make our own decisions. We choose whither we want to become addicted and later die at an early age. Young people do not. These people are still immature and do not think of long-term consequences. Regulating advertising is a must for kids minds and health. It will reduce the wants and coolness of smoking or chewing tobacco. The government should step in and control the situation at retail stores so that is harder for kids to get their hands on tobacco. For us adults, we are intelligent enough to know what can kill us. Business

A Draft U.S. Plan on Iraq Inspection Authorizes Force essays
A Draft U.S. Plan on Iraq Inspection Authorizes Force essays The Bush Administration has drafted a plan for inspections that provides for unrestricted access to all sited in Iraq, including Saddam Husseins presidential compounds and palaces. Also authorities the use of military force if Baghdad interferes with what the United States is going to do A U.S. official says if we find anything in what they give us that is not true, that is the trigger. The plan which American and British officials are presenting is to declare that Iraq is already violating its obligations to the United Nations. Iraq also needs to put the ownership on Saddam Hussein to comply. Saddam has a seven-day deadline to accept and declare all his weapons of mass destruction, and 23 more days to open site and provide documents to support this declaration. It appears that France, China and Russia who also have say in this are not supportive of force towards Iraq. They feel that military action should not be used. There was a provision of resolution in 1998 called 1154, which s tated that Iraq had to be notified before inspecting presidential sites and they were to have diplomats in their company when inspected. This new plan would override resolution 1154. I think we have to do something to find out what kind of mass destruction Iraq is capable of but I do not believe we should have to use military force and go to war. Too many people would be hurt and a lot of lives could be killed. I know that some how we need to stop Saddam Hussein but Im not sure how. I do not understand how anyone could be so sick and destructive as a man like Saddam Hussein. I hope the United States can find a way to prevent mass destruction and war because are world will be crushed if something of that notion happens. There is enough disease and death and sadness in life already without people risking others lives for no good reason. ...

Cultural Studies - Essay Example 84). The preceding quote very explicitly identifies several forms of essentialism, those being biological, social and cognitive essentialism, and holds as universal to all women. In other words, gender is not just an inherently biological characteristic but it is equally so a matter of cognitive perception and social attribute. Groszââ¬â¢s definition or understanding of feminism emerges from within her understanding of essentialism and its correlation to gender. Equality feminism is somewhat at odds with the essentialist representations of the female gender. As Genovese (1996) explains, this feminist ideology highlights the similarities between men and women, irrespective of biological differences, and argues gender equality on the basis of the similarities. This stance may be interpreted as a negation of essentialism, insofar as it only concedes to biological differences but does not acknowledge the inherent importance of social and cognitive essentialism. In direct comparison to equality feminism, feminism of difference emphasizes the differences between the genders. As Ebert (1993) explains, difference feminism argues that the sexes are fundamentally different but that differences, whether cognitive or social, do not negate the equality of the sexes, or make one more equal than the other. This feminist ideology is reflective of essentialism. In the final analysis, and speaking from a subjective viewpoint, essentialism is an inescapable reality. The sexes are not just different because of biology but because of cognitive and societal perceptions. Equality feminism, insofar as it fails to acknowledge the aforementioned, is weak. Its weakness is rooted in its assumption that equality is only applicable to those, or that, which are alike. Difference feminism, on the other hand, draws its strength from its recognition of essentialism and its understanding of the fact that equality does not have

Integrated marketing communication Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words
Integrated marketing communication - Essay Example The major strength of the company is its brand name. In the recent past the brand was declared as ââ¬Ëthe worldââ¬â¢s favorite airlineââ¬â¢. The company provides wide range of services to its customers such as food services, entertainment options including movies, TV games and music. The flight service being a global airline, offers year round low fare flights along with full services on a worldwide network (Kotipalli, ââ¬Å"Strategic Management Report on British Airwaysâ⬠). British Airways affected employeesââ¬â¢ strike that affected the successful operation of the company. The dispute involved the British Airways Management and the Unite Trade Union over various issues such as working conditions and pay. The effect of the crisis had been tremendous leading to long wait by the passengers at the airports. The airline had to retrain other airline employees in order to work as flight attendants and lease fleets from other airlines. During the strikes the analysts expected that those would cost the company about millions of pounds and it was further estimated that this would certainly hurt the airline brand as customers booked flights with the competitors. According to few economists, this strike would have a negative impact upon the worldââ¬â¢s economy (Werdigier, ââ¬Å"British Airways Strike Effect Disputedâ⬠). Being the marketing communication consultant the crisis management problem needs to be solved with the aim to repair the organizational reputation, sales performance and customs. Therefore, the appropriate strategy would be to use COSTAC framework in order to increase the efficiency and revamp the original position of the company. Before making an integrated marketing plan, it is essential to understand the context of the current situation. The context analysis helps to shape up certain things and explains the reason for such happenings. The Theme of Fate and Choice, in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet In William Shakespeare's tragic play Romeo and Juliet, there are four quotes about fate and choice. The characters in the play choose their own fate, it happens because of their choices or actions. First, in the beginning of the play Romeo and Juliet are referred to as 'a pair of star-crossed lovers' (Romeo and Juliet, Prologue). Second, Romeo explains to Mercutio how he has a dream that if he goes to the Montague party he will die, but Romeo chooses to go to the party anyway. Third, Romeo kills Tybalt right after his marriage to Juliet. Fourth, Romeo decides to commit suicide because he hears of Juliet's death. Puberty Mini Essay
Puberty Mini Essay There are many factors that affect the timing of puberty. A large factor is genetics, because it later causes the onset of other factors as well. Itââ¬â¢s said that maturation and puberty are determined by genetic forces and can be different depending on ethnicity as well. Children in the US seem to mature and hit puberty faster than Asian Americans, while African Americans are ahead of the US. Massimo Mangino, author from the Twin Research Department at King's, says: ââ¬Å"It is fascinating how common genetic variants influence both early puberty and weight gain. With that said obesity is another factor and is becoming an epidemic in this country. Obesity can almost guarantee the girl will have an early start into puberty and can later lead to a higher risk of psychological problems, risk-taking behavior, and even future breast cancer. But the opposite effect of obesity on pubertal timing may occur in boys. Studies have shown that early maturing boys seem to h ave a lower rate of obesity when compared with boys with normally or later timed puberty. Another factor is anxiety/stress.When there is a higher level of stress on the child it tends to prompt the body to send the hypothalamic signal and cause the child to reach puberty at a younger age than normal. Since this sends the child into early puberty, it can affect them with aggression and antisocial behavior as well later on. But on the other side of this, it can also delay puberty as well; it typically relies on the type of stress and the environment of the stress. If the living conditions are poor and there is little food, the stress can lead to a delay of maturation.Early puberty onset for females can be much more damaging than later onset. Females who start puberty early are at higher risk for problems and cancer later in life and usually have a negative body image as well. Earlier puberty onset for males is not as damaging as it is on females though. Sometimes it is seen as a head start in some cultures. If the male is strong and larger than his peers he is looked up to. If the male has a later onset of puberty he may have a different appearance than his peers and may be picked one which can cause a negative body image as well.Works Cited Belsky, Janet (2010).
